Genius Joy : A Feel Good Nootropic Or A Waste Of Time And Money?

The Genius brand of supplements is one of the best known in the world, their range covers almost every aspect of human performance. This review is dedicated to their nootropic product called Joy.

Genius Joy is an all natural supplement that claims to help reduce the effects of stress on the brain and help to improve moods.

The makers clam that its a multi benefit supplement aimed at helping to improve total life enhancement.

They claim that Genesis Joy delivers the following benefits:

  • Improved Memory, Focus and Clarity
  • Reduced Stress
  • Reduces and regulates Cortisol production
  • Supports and promotes a health balance of Dopamine and Seratonin

I actually really like the way that the makers approach the fact that stress clogs the brain, reducing its effectiveness and reducing moods. By reducing the effects of stress on the brain, its users can enjoy increase productivity and mental clarity.

Its not the first nootropic to help tackle stress, but it is the first one that I have found that actually makes this the priority – In other words being targeted to help balance neurotransmitters and help improve overall well being.

Whats In The Formula Of Genius Joy?

genius joy ingredients

The formula is a fully disclosed blend of Vitamin and natural compounds, all tasked with the job of helping to reduce the effects of stress, and boosting the brains performance as well as safeguarding mental wellbeing.

Supplied in slow release capsules, each serving contains:

  • Vitamin B1 1.5mg
  • Vitamin B2 1.7mg
  • Vitamin B3 20mg
  • Vitamin B5 10mg
  • Vitamin B6 2mg
  • Vitamin B12 6mcg
  • Vitamin D3 1000iu
  • S-Adenosylmethionine Tosylate Disulfate (SAMe) 1000mg
  • N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine 350mg
  • Rhodiola Rosea 300mg
  • Red Panax Ginseng 250mg
  • Griffonia Simplicifolia 100mg
  • Neurofactor – Coffea Arabica 100mg
  • L-Theanine 100mg

Looking At The Ingredients In More Depth:

S-Adenosylmethionine Tosylate Disulfate (SAMe)

SAMe is quite well know in the US, its not so common elsewhere, infact I would go as far as saying its quite obscure as a nootropic ingredient.

It has claimed benefits as an anti depressant, but so far we have been unable to uncover any actual scientific facts or proof that back up these claims.

Its a naturally occurring substance in the body, and works as a cosubstrate in the transfer of certain peptides in the body, largely lipids and nucleic acids

N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT)

Thought to be the best form of Tyrosine, this amino acid can have a great effect on cognitive performance. It can help calm and relax the brain in periods of stress.

Trials have backed up its effectiveness in helping to support and boost focus and memory function.

A true nootropic ingredient that should be present in any good supplement

Rhodiola Rosea

Known for its ability to reduce stress, and promote calm and mental clarity. It is also good at boosting sleep quality too.

The 300mg dose found in Genesis Joy is larger than most and this coupled with the N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine can have a huge effect in the way that you deal with and perform under stressful circumstances.

Red Panax GInseng

Ginseng has a massive number of healthy benefits, its not a proven nootropic ingredient per se, it does however, have a well earned reputation for promoting subjective well being, it can help improve sleep quality, sex drive, confidence and much much more.

The dose in Genesis Joy of 250mg is pretty much on the maximum limit without being too excessive.

Griffonia Simplicifolia

Griffonia Simplicifolia has one purpose, that is to stimulate the production of 5-HTP – a precursor to the release of the feel good hormone serotonin.

Seratonin is the feel good neurotransmitter, it helps to elevate feelings of contentment, joy and happiness, it boosts learning, memory and recall.

Increaing the levels of serotonin in the brain is a surefire way to help reduce the effects of stress and ensure a feeling of calm. It can help boost motivation and overall cognitive well being.

Neurofactor

A popular ingredient, based on coffee bean extract which has had a lot of positive feedback, and many supplements use it in various forms.

Its makers claim that it can help promote brain growth, development and maintenance of the brain cells.

The makers website talks about clinical trials involving Neurofactor, but they do not actually disclose any actual evidence

L-Theanine

Known for its ability to help promote calmness and stress release. A very gentle muscle relaxer that can improve sleep quality. Has no actually brain boosting nootropic effects itself, but does play a good supporting role in the reducing of stress.

Its particularly good if you are a heavy coffee drinker and regularly take on board too much caffeine, especially later in the day, where it could disrupt sleep patterns .

Vitamin D3 and Various B Vitamins

B Vitamins are know for regulating many bodily processes, this includes energy metabolism, fat oxidation and the synthesis of nucleic acid. Vitamin D3 is essential for bone density, immune system and is directly linked to healthy testosterone levels in men.

None are particularly effective as nootropic ingredients, but all play a major part in healthy bodily functions with virtually no downsides to taking them in supplement form.

How To Take Genius Joy

The daily serving amounts to 4 capsules, there are no clear instructions available as to how you take them (all at once or through the day)

What Do Users Say

There is actually very little independent feedback out there, from users of Genius Joy, because of this, I have used my extensive knowledge of the ingredients etc used to base my thoughts and final recommendations.

The few reviews that I found were on Amazon – sadly most were not that good – Here are a few examples.

Reported Side Effects

There are no reports of any adverse reactions or side effects from the majority of ingredients in the mix, the only one with a big red flag over it is SAMe as its larger untested and relatively unknown.

Where Can You Buy Genius Joy?

Amazon are a main stockist, but you can also buy online for numerous other online stores including the official website* –

Prices vary slightly but expect to pay around $60 for a tub containing 100 capsules (25 days supply)

*Currently the official website is showing as out of stock

Cash Back Guarantee?

When buying directly from the manufactures, they offer a 90 day cash back guarantee, its not clear however if this applies to opened containers.

Buying from other sources might involve different guarantee periods, so please check before you buy.

My Final Thoughts On Genius Joy

Genius joy is unlike other nootropic supplement that i have tried and/or reviewed, I say this because its not targeted at boosting cognitive functions, boosting memory, focus and recall to name just a few. It is quite simply targeted at helping to reduce the effects of stress, and by doing that, possibly improve overall well being and sleep quality.

It does appear to perform its key roll really well with good amounts of Tyrosine and Rhodiola Rosea taking care of that for sure.

The inclusion of Theanine and Griffonia certainly help to boost a positive state of mind, enhancing feelings of calm and positivity in users, and given that I am very confident that you will enjoy a major reduction in stress levels while taking it.

Panax Ginseng is not a common nootropic ingredient, although it can help boost self confidence and overall well being.

Combined these should help you to feel less stressed, and help to remain calm and relatively upbeat, which will surely help you with everyday mental performance.

It will NOT provide much by way of actually improving mental function, there are no signs (or any proof) that it can enhance memory, focus and overall mental performance.

The largest ingredient by volume (SAMe) is largely untested with no proven benefits whatsoever.

To Sum up – Genius Joy may be effective at alleviating stress but as an actually nootropic, it falls well short of the mark.

There are some far better nootropics out there that also tackle stress, but also provide a more rounded formula that boost and enhance cognitive function too.
